Who’s Eligible for a Free NHS Flu Vaccine in 2026?

Each winter, the NHS makes the flu vaccine available free of charge to groups considered more likely to become seriously unwell from flu. If you’re unsure whether that includes you, here’s the full breakdown for the 2026/27 season.

Age

Free NHS Flu Vaccine: Who Qualifies

You’re entitled to a free flu jab on the NHS if any of the following apply to you:

Pregnancy

Health conditions (adults 18–64)

Children with health conditions

Living situation

Carers

Contacts and frontline staff

The eligible groups for 2026/27 are unchanged from previous years, with the addition of people experiencing homelessness.

What If You’re Not Eligible for Free Vaccination?

A lot of healthy, working-age adults fall outside NHS free eligibility but still choose to get vaccinated, particularly if they work in a busy setting, spend time around vulnerable people, or simply want to avoid getting knocked out by flu over winter.

Unsure If You Qualify?

Our pharmacy team can check your eligibility on the spot, in-branch, or you can reach out beforehand if you’d rather check in advance. There’s no GP referral required — appointments can be booked ahead, or you can walk in.
